Things to do around Cherry Hill and Philadelphia
Independence Visitors Center Downtown Philadelphia is a walker’s paradise. The new Independence National Historical Park includes many historic buildings connected with the founding of the United States. There is a cell-phone audio tour $$ of this whole area. South Street, between 15 and Front Sts.. A lively area, both day time and evening. Slanted to the bohemian style of life, not unlike the Rive Gauche of Paris. The Franklin Institute http://www2.fi.edu/ The wonders of science come alive. City Hall and the Masonic Temple and next to each other. Each is great examples of Art and Architecture. Located in the heart of Philadelphia. Longwood Gardens $$, a 1,000+ acre treasure of botanical delights is a 30 miles drive from Philadelphia. http://www.longwoodgardens.org/TheGardens_1_3_2.html On your way to or from the conference, stop in nearby Chester County to visit Brandywine Valley, Longwood Gardens (see above), and Winterthur Museum, http://www.winterthur.org/ the home of Henry DuPont and his large collection of American antiques hand crafted in the US. There will be handouts for other Philadelphia attractions and local restaurants at the registration desk.
