2010 AGG Conference Information 

The American Glass Guild announces their fifth Annual Conference, offering a series of presentations by national and international speakers.  The Registration Fee includes all activities from July 23rd through July 25th - Friday (including admission to 2 museums); Saturday and Sunday presentations, two breakfasts (Sat, Sun), three lunches (Fri, Sat, Sun) and one dinner (Sat).  Travel to the Conference, lodging and meals not provided by the AGG are the responsibility of each attendee

The conference hotel is: Greektown Hotel/Casino. 1200 St. Antoine St., Detroit, MI  48226.  

Rate will be $99/nite double/king plus applicable taxes.  (free parking for guests)

Workshops

All Conference Workshops to be held Thursday, July22nd, 2010 –

J. Kenneth Leap:  Silver Stain/Painting Workshop,  Thursday 8-noon   $170 members $185 non members

This will be a four-hour silver-stain workshop, demonstrating and discussing the myriad uses of silver stain. Attendees will paint hands-on and take away a set of fired and unfired samples of the various stains.

Tom Krepcio & Dan Maher:  Photo Transfer Techniques,  Thursday. 9:30-4:   Fee: $300 members $325 non members

Half of Workshop at Greektown Hotel and part off-site at a the Michigan Hot Glass Workshop
    Instructors will each instruct half the class, and then trade after lunch – to present variety of applications.
    Will use kilns and sand blasting equipment on flashed glass to make 2-3 small items.
    All tools and materials will be provided
    Lunch ($) to be ordered from near by deli.
    All participants will have to sign a hold harmless agreement.

Albert Young:  Glass Blowing,  Thursday 9:30-4:  Fee: $275 members $300 nonmembers

            Off site at the Michigan Hot Glass Workshop (10 minute drive from hotel; car pooling suggested)
    Min. 6 students, max. 10
    Instructor demos.
    Participants will make 2 small hand-cast roundels which can be used in stained glass
    Need to bring own safety glasses, and wear closed toed shoes
    Lunch ($) to be ordered from a near by deli
    All participants will have to sign a hold harmless agreement.

Parrendo, Nick:  Painting Workshop, Thursday 1-5  Fee: $170 members $185 non members

Last year’s Joseph Barnes Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Nick Parrendo will give a four-hour traditional painting workshop. He will discuss iconography and demonstrate a variety of trace and matte techniques; this is a hands-on seminar with constructive criticism provided to attendees work.

Debra Balchen and J. Kenneth Leap:  Open Drawing Class,  Thursday Evening 7-10 PM:   Free (Sign-Up Required)

On Thursday evening we will have our first Open Drawing Class, organized by Ken Leap with the assistance of various instructors. Attendees will be participants and models; still life setups will be available. The three-hour class is FREE and the AGG encourages participation by all. Please indicate on your registration form if you plan to take this class. Attendees must bring their own drawing materials.

MEMBER “SLIDE SHOW” 

AGG members are invited to present one to seven images of their work (new or  restoration) in the Member “Slide Show” on Friday evening. All images should be e- mailed to info@americanglassguild.org before June, 30 2010 in JPEG format and should be approximately 1024 x 768 pixels. Please include your name and phone number. 

 AGG LIVE AUCTION 

We will be holding a live auction to raise funds for the Jim Whitney Memorial  Scholarship Fund and future AGG educational events. Your contribution does not have to be related to stained glass. Your generosity will help to further the goals of the AGG. I plan to contribute the following to the Auction: 

AGG MEMBERSHIP 

The Annual fee is $48.00 and provides membership from January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010. Members receive a discount to AGG events. If you wish to become a member, please download the membership application from the AGG website, complete the form and attach to this document. Current members who wish to renew their Membership, do not need to fill out another Membership Application. 

CANCELLATION POLICY 

All notices of cancellation must be received in writing at the address provided below. If notice is received at our office before May 15, 2010, all fees paid will be returned less a $25.00 administrative fee. If received between May 16, 2010 and June 15, 2010 a $75.00 administrative fee will be charged. There will be no refunds for cancellations received after June 16, or for "no shows". No exceptions.
