American Glass Guild Conference
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 20 -22 July 2012
Pittsburgh is recognized the world over as being the steel-making capital of the 20th century. But long before the city gained the nickname "The Steel City," it was recognized as a major center for glassmaking. The remains of that heritage are to be seen everywhere in the city, with its world class stained glass in churches, private homes and public buildings. Because of this wealth of top-class glass, the American Glass Guild are holding their 2012 conference in Pittsburgh.
Based at the remarkable Omni William Penn hotel, we will be in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh and within walking distance of some wonderful windows by top American producers like Connick, Rudy, D'Ascenzo, Willet, Hunt and, of course, Tiffany. Europe is well represented too, and we will be visiting some places not normally open to the public in the company of one of America's top stained glass historians, Al Tannler and restorer John Kelly. Hands-on workshops will take place at historic Hunt Studio, owned by our Sneior Advisor Nick Parrendo, as well as at the natioanlly-recognized Pittsburgh Glass Center
