Judith Schaechter

The Path to Paradise

Judith will discuss her continuing retrospective exhibition (which opened in Feb at the Rochester Memorial Art Gallery and will travel to Museum in Toledo and Des Moines) from her point of view as the artist. What is it like to be the subject of this type of exhibition, what does it personally feel like, what is required of the artist and how does it affect one as a human and a professional? It may not be what you think!

Judith Schaechter has worked in stained glass for 35 years since graduating from Rhode Island School of Design.  Her work is collected internationally and is represented in such museums as The Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian.

Judith's work was included in the 2002 Whitney Biennial, a collateral exhibition of the Venice Biennale in 2012 and she is a 2008 USA Artists Rockefeller Fellow. In 2013 Judith was inducted to the American Craft Council College of Fellows.
