Service Description
Fused Glass Components and Construction with Troy Moody This class will take place over two consecutive mornings and provide glass fusing fundamentals, detailed demonstrations, and hands-on instruction of at least 6 different techniques to create fused glass components and effects. Students will use the glass lace, crackles, puddles (etc) that they create on day one as embellishments in the composition of an original 8x8” fused glass tile on day 2. If you are a glass painter this workshop will provide all the practical knowledge you’ll need to confidently explore kiln-formed glass in your practice. If you are already a fuser, use the tips and techniques provided to expand your repertoire. Troy Moody has been exploring art glass as an expressive medium for more than 20 years, his portfolio includes award winning Public Art, inspired private commissions and innovative autonomous work. Troy serves on the Board of Directors for the American Glass Guild and is the Studio Lead for the glass department at the Mesa Arts Center. Notable site-specific projects include more than 85,000 square feet of award winning Terrazzo designs for the Phoenix Convention Center and the Maricopa County Superior Court Tower, installations for Scottsdale Public Art, the City of Glendale, Ascension Lutheran of Paradise Valley, the Phoenix Church of the Beatitudes, the Salvation Army Southwest Headquarters and countless luxury homes. In addition his site-specific work, Troy is known for his Glass, Mixed Media and Found Object Assemblages. All the work in this submission was included in MEMINISSE a solo exhibition of Troy’s assemblage work for the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum Jan - April 2022.
