The Glaziers Company of London, UK, runs the Stevens Competition for new and emerging glass artists offering that elusive opportunity for a first commission. Helen’s talk will showcase some of the resulting commissioned works, launching the careers of many successful glass artists including herself.
Helen Whittaker is Creative Director to Barley Studio, York, a stained glass firm internationally
renowned for both conservation and new work. Helen has completed over 100 commissions in
stained glass and architectural sculpture for prestigious ecclesiastical and secular buildings across
the UK. Helen is currently working on a scheme of 6 towering Marian windows covering 180 sq.m.
for the Lily Chapel in Manila, Philippines.
Helen is a Court Member (the executive body) of the Worshipful Company of Glaziers, chairing the
judging panel for the Stevens Architectural Glass Competition. She is a Fellow of the British Society
of Master Glass Painters.
