Nancy Gong

       
         The spirit and energy of living things always intrigue me and continue to be at the       
           very core of my art. I constantly strive to capture grace, movement and dimension of life in a
simple, yet powerful way. Facets of nature are the soul of my art where lyrical abstractions of  
           nature come to life through the use of line, color, texture with light balancing
the silent beauty of glass.
 
For 46 years, my life’s passion has been designing contemporary architectural art glass commissions for public, commercial, institutional and private collections throughout the US and abroad. In my commissioned designs, I devote a great deal of sensitivity to the environment and the people who will be experiencing art in its space. Working in a wide range of glass techniques, I choose the technique that best conveys the desired vision, often combining historical and contemporary artistic processes.
 
My independent, non-commissioned fine art designs inform my architectural designs.
Never satisfied with doing the same thing over and over, I keep my work fresh for design by expanding my awareness of the world through learning from my clients and for my art form through active membership with the American Glass Guild, Stained Glass Association of America, Society of American Mosaic Artists, Glass Art Society, Arena Art Group and Pittsford Fine Art. I am an Honorary Member of AIA Rochester and AIANYS.
 
I am always open to growing and evolving with my work while being true to my own voice. A common thread in my work is my love of nature and human nature as expressed through color, texture and movement. These designs often express abstract realism, visual narratives and stylized representational and conceptual art – always finding a way to add meaning while choosing to express the lighter side of life. I am most excited when my designs go beyond beauty to make deeply emotional connections with others.
