Kathy Jordan: Armature Under Painting
The Armature of an Under Painting - Wednesday
Service Description
Wednesday August 5th, 2026 9:00AM - 4:30PM GlassRoots Single-Day Workshop, Wednesday Session This class will focus on creating a foundation and under-painting-road-map for rendering flesh. The first step (Matt) develops procedural memory and underscores the successive layers. We will be emphasizing the relationship between light and dark value ranges in one application. The discipline of the under painting moves from the cognitive phase (conscious effort) to the associative phase (improved with practice). We will explore this reductive approach and the brushes required. Step-by-step demonstrations will support a fast-paced class. All tools will be provided for use during the workshop. Please anticipate communications from the instructor prior to the class to review the students' painted work and answer any questions you may have. Intermediate skill level required Please submit 4-6 images representative of your painting experience. You are strongly encouraged to submit your portfolio prior to the registration opening date. An accepted portfolio does not guarantee a spot in the class. You must register to secure your space starting on April 18. Seats are available first come first served to pre-screened students.
